My initial thought is that he wants a vacation that he really can't afford.

maybe what he means by "cost is a factor" is "this trip must be very costly"

drive down to lake powell and the grand canyon. I made this trip about a year and a half ago and it was great. I thought Lake Powell was really underrated.

Well, if you live in Athens GA it should only take you a few hours to drive to Columbia SC or Columbia TN.
Gasoline prices have dropped recently so that should keep your cost down.

Perhaps you meant Colombia?

I don't know why that's the mindset and i don't know why my OP was downvoted so much. I don't see it as that unrealistic you can travel and not spend money.

3 of us traveled to Germany and we &averaged about 200 a day for all 3 of us. I don't think I'd have an issue with finding lodging for about 60 a day. I'd need gas every other day. That'd leave plenty of spending money if you plan out everything in advance and aren't super high maintenance.

As for traveling in the us. I do plan on traveling all over the place. But I can't hike now. I'd prefer to wait till I can do serious hiking for all the national parks and other natural wonders.

And yes, I've been to Sedona and I loved it. I was 9 and did the pink jeep tour and horse back riding (I almost died) and ate rattlesnake

You are correct. I'm a budget traveler myself. I recommended Thailand and the Philippines because you can travel with relative comfort and not spend a lot of money.
