If you want the younger bar, hook up scene live in Midtown.
If you want the laid back bar, hipster scene live in the Heights.
If you want a mix of that with some LGBT thrown in live in Montrose.

Did you even read the OP?

Commuting from inside the loop up to IAH wont be bad, you will be traveling against traffic.
My choices:
Heights/cottage grove
Montrose
EADO
Washington

I will say there are a fair number of apartments around Rice Village that would be perfect for a new grad. It's a bit south for this commute, but the area has a lot going on. Very safe too.

LIVE as far away from IAH as possible.
Young again? My arse would be midtown, downtown, Washington ave. The Heights? Or is The Heights too "family"?

Heights if he can afford the rent.
Downtown is becoming a more attractive place to live as well.

Downtown is still quite filled with homeless people. If you plan to be out drinking, I would generally not want to be walking around downtown, though there are some cool bars there.

Humble , Texas. Off of Rankin road.
Nice subdivision.

77032 is the airport zip code, put that in on HAR.com and search rentals. ITs a mixed bag, the airport part and john f kennedy boulevard are nice the rest of the area is a dumpster fire.
Dont listen to these guys about downtown, the heights, the village. Those are awesome but also 30 miles away for the rice village. The heights is closer but not close.
Kingwood is honestly the closest area i dont know the zip code but 77032 is the area code of his job more than likely if theres anything decent for rent there do it

If you are a new grad just moving to Houston, there are few fates worse than moving right next to Gunspoint.
The drive won't be particularly difficult since you are going against traffic.
If this dude doesn't care about having a social life, then maybe that would work.

Absolutely wouldn't stay anywhere near the airport. The Heights isn't that far from there. There are much worse commutes here for sure.

1. Upper Kirby
2. Montrose
3. Rice Village/West U (you're pretty much gonna live in a Hanover property)
4. Rice Military/Washington
5. Midtown....let's be honest...no one fricking likes living in Midtown

Anyone else think the Heights is criminally overrated? Something about the area has always depressed me.

I go to the Heights for 2 reasons....crawfish (Boil House/The Boot) and pizza (Coltivare). Otherwise...frick the Heights.

The Heights or mid-town. It will be about 20-30 minute commute but it's the reverse of traffic flow. Do not live on Kingwood as young and single. Maybe the woodlands if you live around Main Street.
