"Self-Determination" is a pretty way to say "resegregation".

I don't think you know what that word means.

Why do you think Baton rouge is a cesspool?

specifically. What are your reasons?

per the poliboard...the legislature is trying to pass a bill that would allow "all voters who reside in a parish or parishes" to vote on the SG city.

So the city of BR could vote against SG's "self-determination"

If this isn't the very definition of fighting self-determination I don't know what is.

Young families have been flocking out of BR for the past 20 years. It's going to be interesting to see what BR will be left with in another 20.

It probably won't pass.

Every time a story like that gets published in NOLA.com or The Advocate, St. George finds more signatures.

Without the tax revenue, which you say st g is not about, you can sign up as many people as you want. It ain't gonna happen.

BR isn't the cesspool you doom and gloomers keep saying it is. Go to Alex Box this weekend. Show me the cesspool. Show me all the unhappy people.

Much green light dollars were spent in the unincorporated areas. Thanks to everyone in the parish.

And they are starting to come back.

I know a few friends who are moving to Baton rouge from Zachary because it is getting better for families and there is more to do than go to little league games

Oh, and homes are finally starting to open up in desirable neighborhoods like mid-city, capital heights, and garden district/lakes.

Packed up in 2008. SO glad I left EBR. It was going to hell when I left... I assume they have finally arrived?

Not nearly at the pace they're leaving. Not even close. Talk to anybody in real estate. It's not debatable.

After the game Friday night, walk down Highland past Chimes and Show me the cesspool. Show me all the unhappy people.

I was going to make a snide comment about how BR is a little bigger than campus, but then I realized, even campus abuts a shite hole.

Much improvement there. Have you been lately? Looks whole lot better than when I arrived. I wished 17 years ago I had jumped on some property north of campus. Getting better every year. And gonna be more desirable and be more valuable to the youthful than the crank/meth producing hinterlands of the surrounding parishes.

I didn't know this was a separate but equal thing.

I also didn't know there was a requirement of a specific race to live in the proposed area of St. George.

Perhaps you should take that segregation shite and go eat it somewhere else.

St. George includes Gardere, Staring, and several other black neighborhoods. It's far less "white" than you'd think.

The reaction on Tiger Droppings alone, is enough of a reason for me to hope that St. George happens.
