Driving requires focused attention, period. If someone calls me all I'm willing to do is note who called me. If it's important that I talk to that person I'll pull over somewhere first and call back.
Driving when you aren't paying attention is like rock climbing without a rope.

Isn’t there a company in Baton Rouge called CELL CONTROL that develops technology that can keep people from texting? I haven’t heard anything about them in years, but everyone should have it by damn.

Well what the hell can I do while driving then
I've been saying for years I should give clinics on this.
Of course, people who attend would first need to pass a spatial dexterity test. Most people would fail.

I saw something similar one time...bothered me for a long time after I saw it, too.

A girl in my sister's high school class was killed in a texting and driving accident. Single car accident. Car ran off the road and rolled and caught fire. She was on life support for a week before the family pulled the plug. It was very, very sad. Just 19 years old.

People are scared to fly, worried that a terror attack will kill them, etc, but people text while driving kills way more people and everyone continues to do it as if its no big deal. I don't know if people think "it will not happen to me" or what, but if you have to have to text someone just pull over.. As long as you are driving just put your phone away.
People will never, ever, never stop texting and driving, talking and driving, etc. Never. They are going to use their smartphones while driving, no matter who it kills or how many it kills. Period.
You know how when you smash a few ants how the others just keep crawling by like nothing happened? That's how people are with texting and driving. No matter how many get smashed, the others will keep texting and driving like nothing happened.

There should be some type of device in vehicles that disables cell phones. This wasn't a problem before cell phones and we survived without a phone in the car.

when I see people holding a phone (instead of blue tooth or some way of talking and not needing hands), I say something to them when I can.
They never act contrite.
most are irate.
Worst are women in parking lots. pulling around some SUV or huge car with one hand holding the phone.

If you can't text while driving effectively, you deserve to have your license revoked. That said, nothing wrong with red light texting.
