I was lucky enough to be living in Gulf Shores last year for the Govt Shut Down. The BA didn't travel but still had to get their flight hours and practice. Most of this was done along the beaches of Perdido Key, OB, GS and Fort Morgan. It was a special experience to see those guys in action on a daily basis.

Pretty sure they're tethered in. Look around their legs and you can see a rope.

you don't see the giant tethers on them? Loadmasters fly with the door open a lot.

My Sgt cousin posted a pic like this, and another that probably could have gotten the airforce in trouble. (apparently the airforce is the private transport for the saudi royal family's fleet of cars between europe and saudi. He took a pic of his load bay full of Saudi Mercedes and Bentlys.)
