Some jets have a rear seat

BA usually fly the single-seat version... I think they do have some dual-seat versions for VIPs and shite.

Correct. #7 has the dual seats and is almost never seen in a show. It serves as the PR and standby aircraft. It will fly in a show if one of the other Angels has to come down due to problems with the aircraft. I got to see this in Belle Chasse a few years back. One of the Angels suddenly left the formation and landed. The announcer mentioned that the plane was having problems and landing for safety. A few minutes later as the Angels are making a wide sweeping turn after completing a maneuver, #7 came screaming down the runway completely unannounced to the crowd and in full burn, rocketing up to join the formation.

It was pretty awesome.

The Fat Albert JATO takeoff is pretty neat, too. Their show is definitely worth the traffic jam.

No more JATO, the rocket bottles were from stockpile manufactured for use in Vietnam, the last ones were used in the Nov. 2009 Blue Angels show in Pensacola.

The Blue Angels currently have 16 jets: four single seat F/A-18 A models, nine single seat F/A-18 C models, one 2-seat F/A-18 B and two 2-seat F/A-18 D models. While one set of 7 aircraft are out flying the show for that week the others undergo maintenance.

No, Tom Jones played for Arkansas. He was the youngest. Bert and Ben played for LSU. "Hoss" Jones, the oldest, was a Thunderbird. He didn't play college football, AFAIK.

It's really a nice experience to even see them do their practice gig in Pensacola.
Saw them this summer on the water in Seattle and it was pretty damn neat.

A ride with these guys is a definite bucket list item...then I find myself wondering how many times I'd pass out during the ride.

Hope we give you guys a good game this Saturday. Go Cats!
