What's your opinion of stores being open on Thanksgiving?

Personally I think it is disgusting that other individuals can't be with their families on the holiday.

Well the good news is that you can choose not to shop there. It's called boycotting.

The females of one side of my in law's extended family are going shopping Thursday evening. I think it's very trashy but so does my SO. I married into a big Cajun family so it's not surprising or problematic to me or her. Shopping on thanksgiving is pretty terrible IMO

What about people that work in television? I have to go into work tomorrow as well.

It is awful that they're open.

Have you seen the deals on big screen TVs though? Will be there.

If people spend money, stores will be open. People don't have to go if they don't want to. As far as employees, it should be communicated prior to someone taking a job if it will be expected of them to work on certain holidays.

On shift for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years for the last 20 years. People working care a lot less about having to work than you care about them having to work.

I don't see why it is disgusting to choose to get paid time plus a half.

1. Will be making normal wage...
2. Will be selling alcohol to the needy...
3. Will have a good time...
4. Will feel bad for those spending time with their families.

people that don't get off on holidays normally don't get time and a half... that's for people that have jobs that think that working on a holiday is sooooo sad.

Hilarious that some people actually think the whole world comes to a stop because they're going to spend a special day overeating and watching football.

I am a nurse and work on Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's Eve this year. Just the way it worked out. Should I be mad that people stay sick on holidays? Nope. If stores want to open and have great sales and require some of their staff to work, that is their business. Sounds crazy, but some people actually think shopping on these days is kind of fun. Some of our family members go and have a blast. Different strokes I guess.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
