I used to run with Asics Kayano, but after a lot of trial and error, I've learned that support shoes may be contributing to my IlioTibial problems. Right now I'm using Brooks PureDrift (a minimalist shoe) and I'm running pain-free so far.

Brooks Adrenaline are my "old" running shoes, and Asics Gel Venture 4 are my new ones. But the Brooks still feel better on longer (3-5 miles for me) runs so I go with them more often. I use the Asics in the gym and maybe 1 day a week running.

I really need to get back to it. This winter and rain needs to stop. Seems like every time I try to start back, something happens. In January it was the big snowstorm. In February, there was another snowstorm that snowed us in a couple of days.

When buying new running shoes do yall usually stick with what you had before and just get a new pair or try something new? I'm about to get a new pair of running shoes to start training to run the Chicago marathon again and debating if I want to stick with what I ran in last year (Adidas Energy Boost) or try something new. I didn't think the shoes were anything spectacular but have had worse.

Got a half marathon this Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky. I usually run in Puma's, any suggestions on good distance running shoes?

stick with what you have been running in.

you don't wanna try and break in a new pair of shoes on a long run like that.

if they hurt your feet after 3 mi, youre kinda fricked.

I stick with what I like and know until they change the style (which happens almost yearly for popular models).

Just know what type of shoe you like and what features you need then it helps to find other shoes you may want to try.

For distance (anything over 4 miles), I want a neutral show with a 4mm heel/toe drop, with something more than foam on the lateral forefoot. I need some rubber there.

It helps narrow my search. For track workouts and shorter races I prefer something that is 0mm drop, again with something reinforcing the sole on the lateral forefoot.

For the race, wear whatever you have trained in.

I've been using New Balance minimus MR00's the last few years for training and races. Has helped me get away for a heel strike...

Just got a pair of the New Balance Fresh foam shoes and they are absolutely amazing. I was running in Brooks but these are the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn.
