I am looking for a system to be installed with monitoring. These guys have hooked up several neighbors. But anyone know how they really are long term for service and equipment reliability? Reviews seem to either say they are great or they are the worst.

Sounds like the reviews for every product I've ever seen.

I have it and I like it. One thing I wish was different is the warning before the actual alarm goes off. You have like 15-20 seconds before the actual alarm goes off. The warning is a very soft voice saying to enter pin or whatever. That kinda sucks because I'm a hard sleeper and I'll never hear that shite. And I feel 15-20 seconds is plenty of time to get in and grab hold of a person sleeping

They were extremely expensive compared to what I pay currently, at least they were a year or so ago.

I have a hard time trusting products that are sold door to door.

They technically do not have a license to install security systems in LA. They are getting around that by having an electricians license which is much easier to get and has lower requirements such as no background checks etc.

Compare prices. They are more expensive than your local companies and they force you into a 5 year minimum contract. They prey on people who are uneducated about home security and wow them with appears to be fancy features.

You don't have an option for "no entry delay"?

I've had it for years. Been very good and reliable so far. As for the issue above, there is a setting to change when you set it on Stay.

They are banned from my neighborhood as well. All solicitors are banned, but the Vivint people started the ball rolling.

the alarm for a sensor trip or a window trip is not the same as a door trip.

Generally some sensors will turn the alarm on right away, others will give you 15 seconds to enter the code.

They suck. Try getting someone to help with a problem. I got a year left in a 5 year contract. No outs unless you pay it in full. Plan on moving and they instructed me to sell the service to the people that might buy my house.

Like I've said before, the OT has taught me not to take shite from door to door salesmen. The vivant salesman last year. was a cute little bubbly girl. Next time I'll beat the frick out of her Bc I'm OT tough.

Had one of those frickers in my neighborhood once going door to door. I told him to get off my property. He tried going to my neighbor's house and I trained the laser from the tactical grip I have on him.

Watching him run away down the street like a little girl made my day.

I like my service with Vivint. I've had it about two years with no issues. It's $50 a month but didn't cost anything upfront.

I have Certified Alarms. 3 year contract. A little more expensive than ADT but I'd rather keep the business local.

I have 4 options on setting the alarm:

Stay - delay on entry door, no motion detection. When dogs are inside and I'm away.

Away - delay on entry door, motion detection. When dogs are outside and I'm away.

Instant (sleep mode) - no delay, no motion detection. Alarm starts blaring immediately if someone breaks in while sleep. Doesn't give 20-30 seconds to enter code.

Max (vacation mode) - no delay, motion detection. Turn off with app before entering home.

If vivent cannot change the delay options then that's terrible.

Edit: $39.50/month. Runs off cell tower. No home phone line needed.

You pointed a gun at him???
I hate door to door sales assholes but I was taught not to point a gun at anything I didn't intend to kill.

Hell no! I just had the grip with the light and the laser. It wasn't attached to anything. I'm not pointing a gun at anything I don't intend to shoot.

I just wanted to put some fear in him. Those frickers case houses.
