they should have added another $10 to the device price and bundled it with a great app

Tell that to the people who died in those Toyotas or the person who died in that Tesla. You can tell them, but they prob won't hear.
You can cite anecdotes, or you can cite actual factual numbers to show what's safer. I'll help with the numbers.

did you really just cite a study that starts at 1920 when cars looked like this?

This entire thread is based on people saying older cars are better. So, by using your mantra, this car is far superior to your 20 year old truck.

dude, surely you're not so ignorant you didn't notice the hockey stick began to level out after 1970 huh?

but then again that makes your zinger less potent.

eta define 'better'. i never said safer. i'm sure if a new car comes out with a gigantic airbag condom that makes the car explode and turn into a giant bubble it will be safer.

The point is that a 500+ hp V8 Vette capable of 20+ mpg with HUD, AC seats, and navigation is leaps and bounds above the same model built 20 years ago.

This notion that "cars these days are shitty" is complete nonsense spoken by morons.

Eesh, surely you're not so ignorant to not understand how exponential/logarithmic functions work, huh?

Here's a hint: if you "zoom in" on the later years, the chart will look very similar to the full chart.

well for one i never said that.

i did say i prefer a vehicle i can work on myself should it break down because i dont chase car notes. did that once and after my trainwreck of an ex totalled it, i said i'd never spend that kind of bank on a car that could be reduced to rubble in 2 years.

besides the 4runner rocks.

While you could buy one, most of them are free. So don't let that discourage you.

Mine is by a company called XTool, it has a green icon that looks like a check engine light.

It's time to retire this line of argumentation. We get it, you like to do as much vehicle maintenance as you can. You're somewhat atypical, and I'm sure you don't necessarily extend this type of mantra to all areas of your life. Do you grow all of your own food too? Make your own housing materials. How's that candle making going for lighting your home?

Ever had a Chevy 327 hooked up to a Borg Warner 4 speed?

To the OP, I agree 100%. I want my steering wheel directly connected to the wheels, and my gas pedal directly connected to the throttle. With today's computers and fuel injection/direct port injection, you can kiss those days goodbye.

My car has "adaptive headlight." WHen you turn the wheel, the headlights turn a little in the same direction you are going.

One side is broken so it just points forward, like a normal headlight. You can't tell a bit of difference.

all i know is since 1963, despite the # of miles travelled, TN annual fatality rate has hovered 1,110 every single year.

i guess everyone is still driving 1960s cars in TN

And to answer your question, I think 4 wheel steering is going to be big. Honda tried it about 20 years ago and it didn't fly. Manufacturers are getting back into it now that computers process so quickly. Could actually be a nice jump in how cars handle.

You're arguing against yourself here.

Umm, except they're not.

ETA: And look at those fatality rates too! Thanks for destroying your own argument.

so why doesnt the fatality rate go down as the # of miles driven goes up like kork posted unless nobody is buying the new safer cars?
