We pay $500 (cash) a week during the summer 8am-6pm, $260 a week during school 3pm-6pm.

She oversees homework, does laundry, and cleans kitchen/living room

We have 3 boys

No college student is going to watch your kid for 8 hours a day 3 days a week.

BTW, $20-25 / hour is the going rate.

I pay Jose $15/ hour to do odd jobs around my house.

Don't you think you should pay the person watching your kid more than Jose?

My ex made 17 per hour in college. But she was working for one of the wealthier BR families.

Will there be a "nanny cam" involved?

Are you sure you checked everywhere? It says you're in Metairie. St. Christopher has a brand new daycare opening as part of the school in August. 6 weeks - 2y/o The school part is with PK3-7th. They may still have openings. My wife and I know a lot of the people there, and it looks like it will be a pretty solid program. They are still finishing the renovations on an entire building for it.

Also Metairie Ridge usually has spots open in the 3-6 month old class and seems to be a default temporary place for people until a space opens up in a program you want. St. Martin's usually has an opening too.

Nanny's run anywhere from $10-20/hr depending on skill level and time of year. Much easier to find a nanny during the summer because lots of school teachers are off. We had a retired RN watch our baby and we paid $120/day for 7 hours for 2 months and then switched to daycare.

I would find another stay at home mom with two older kids. College kids aren't going to work for 200 dollars a week.

Not true at all. I had friends do it in college.

I have no idea what they charged though.

We got one doing it for $150 for an infant 7:30-3:30 M-F

When daycare is $200 and I get a tax break which would make it $160ish, I am certainly not going to pay an non certified college student more than that

This is where it's at. Find some dumb arse kid still in HS and pay them less than minimum wage.

That's a fantastic deal. I can't believe a kid would work for that when the cost of college and college living is so high.

I just figured college kids in the summer would want to make as much money as possible. Two days a week leaves too much wasted potential on the other days.

If you want to use care.com search the web for care.com coupon and it is only like 20 bucks for a month when you apply it.. One month is all you will need to find someone you can trust and build a relationship with

We paid my cousin in college to watch our twins at our home for what she made at her other job, $80 a day. We left one of our vehicles if she needed to bring them somewhere and paid for food. She eventually just moved in with us and still lives there. Since then we had to find other arrangements because of her school during the day and it worked out great. Two older sisters watch them for both for 110 a week.
