We’re very fortunate that our son and his classmates have known each other for 15 years , since preschool. They are at the house probably 4 days of the week, girls and guys just hanging out . So we’ve been nominated , I guess to be the site for this years Friendsgiving dinner .
When did this start .

It's a forced tradition to get likes on social media. Our group of friends are getting together Thanksgiving night to watch the Saints after we all eat with our families that day. We hang out all the time. This isn't any different than those times, but I'd assume some folks would call this "Friendsgiving"
ETA: I assumed Friendsgiving was a unique event --> Friends getting together to cook, drink and hang out around Thanksgiving. Different from all of the other times of just getting together one night and drinking and calling it #Friendsgiving, because friends get together and do stuff like that all the time.
But people are throwing the term around on social media to just show they had one when it looks just like all of the other times they hang out lol

The true meaning of Friendsgiving is for friends to get together and give back to their community, all of which needs to be documented on social media.

not having any friends that want you to join them for dinner must be the reason you're so salty

It's a time for friends to get together when they're in town for the holiday and can't because family time on Thursday.

Something something Millennials

And Monica. Don't forget Monica

Spending time with your friends during Thanksgiving who you're closer with compared to the Aunt you see once a year.
And in this example you see one of the greatest differences in millennials and boomers. Millennials keep their friends after marriage, largely due to them marrying later in life. Boomers have no friends other than their spouse and relatives.

This is true, but we do that during the Christmas holiday too. Usually like the night after Christmas or something. But I've seen people having them with the same people they see all the time just so they can post about it lol

Idk I have never done it but I did see on FB where a bunch of girls that I graduated HS with did it last week and they had it outside. They all cooked and made a table, even had a photographer come by and take pics.
The whole thing got rained out. They posted pics of the aftermath. I laughed pretty damn hard.

It’s a thing that has gone on forever, but a couple years 20 something hot chicks figured out calling it “Friendsgiving” is a good way to get a ton of IG likes.

Forget that . Why do we have to have a big dinner? Why can’t they just come over and party . Thank goodness my friend is a Chef and will cater it . I’d like to know how our number was drawn ?

I've noticed people doing it who don't have family in town and don't want to travel home for two holidays in a row. What's the problem?
Posted on 11/26/19 at 12:59 pm to Lago Gato
It's because you get to choose who to be around for the holiday instead of being forced with family. Most people enjoy their friends more than at least parts of their family.
