I know this is a little football related but I feel it is still appropriate for the OT. One of my best friends is getting married and the engagement party happens to be on 11/8 (Lsu-Bama game). I am for sure standing in the wedding. Problem is he is announcing his best man at the party, which is a good possibility I can be the best man. I am an avid LSU fan and season ticket holder. Would you say screw the party and go to the game or am I more than obligated to attend the party(starts @ 5 in destrahan)?

wait until after the ole miss game to make your decision. if ole miss beats lsu like most expect, the bama game loses a lot of luster.

It sounds like this is just some fantasy that the OP has cooked up in his mind so that he can get a rose from the groom and prance around and gloat with it in front of his other friends to make them jealous.

not by any means is that what i want. just want him to pick someone already. dont have that kind of desire to be a best man. im not sitting here drooling over the thought at all.

You wouldn't have made up this story about him announcing the best man at the party if you didn't want it to happen and for him to pick you. Nobody does this in real life, which is why it is your fantasy, although it may be sub conscious.

You signed up to be in the wedding party, you are obligated to attend the functions. Page 13, paragraph 16, article C of the Roberta's Rules of Wedding Order.

Well the fact you couldn't talk him out of letting her have this party on the date of the BAMA game, you should remove yourself for consideration.. Besides, what dude makes an announcement like that?

I find this to be pretty tacky. This is not homecoming where a queen is announced. I'd be at LSU/Bama. But that's me .. and I'm a girl.

Not when you ALREADY HAVE PLANS ... I don't think you're required to change plans. 3 weeks is NOT that much notice imo.

Anybody that "announces" the best man at a party doesn't deserve you to be their best man. Go to the game. Besides, odds are they will be divorced within a couple of years anyway. No harm done.
