What’s really the incentive to get tested unless you’re so sick you need to use government mandated covid days?

My 2 year old tested positive. I got tested before I went back to work. It’s not a big deal to get tested.

We’ll my daughter goes to college and they’re offering weekly prize drawings for those who get tested.

Like $1000 toward tuition, $250 for books, AirPods, parking pass .. I encouraged her to not get tested “just because”.

How sick?

Say you had a runny nose and a dry cough. Some fatigue. No fever or loss of taste/smell or any of the other major signs.

I’d get tested all the time if I had the chance for prizes after getting a nose swab.

Got tested this morning in Gonzales. My mom was exposed to Covid from my uncle. I was with my mom just hours after that. I have to wait about 72 hours for results.

I would get tested if I have symptoms typical of COVID. Mainly so I would know to stay away from everyone for the quarrintine period expired.

Only if I died. There’s no cure or treatment. My uncle died of cancer and never had Covid. The hospital tested him after he died and said if he tested positive they wouldn’t release his body for a funeral. He tested negative.

So I was debating on making this thread a different focus, but since you kind of brought up my other topic:

What really is the percentage of people truly trying to protect other people?

I’m involved with weddings and have played a few the past 6 weeks or so. NO ONE is wearing masks. No one. Every single wedding was not socially distant and not sporting masks.

The stands at college football games are showing lots of college kids not wearing masks.

Parties are still happening.

People are eating in restaurants in groups without masks on at the table.

There are pics circulating of a Velcro Pygmies show with a packed crowd...no masks.

Just take a gander at the attitude and mindset of the OT or Poli Board: anti-mask sentiments abound.

I guess I’m wondering, what’s in it for anyone to get tested unless they are seriously ill? All it does is keep the numbers high and government mandates going strong.

Sick enough to not work and want to go to Emergency room.

Short of breath, high fever, feel like I will die.
