Doctor

LSU got me here

It's a job like anything else. People say do what you love. I say just do something you don't hate that allows you to have balance. If medicine teaches you one thing it's to enjoy every day. Even if you're working 15 hour days, find something good to take away from it bc tomorrow is never guaranteed.

Sorry I got somber there. It's late, and I had wine.

Sold shoes in high school and was the regular Al Bundy.
Used nepitisim to get me a job offshore at 18 and decided I liked being around women more than men and quit. Started a job as a delivery driver at 20 and did that through my 20's and am now living the good life selling urinal cakes.

Wanted to do Petro Enginerring but I drank too much in college so I did CM at LSU.

I absolutely love it. I'm outside constantly. I work with my hands and I'm pretty much my own boss. I talk to my PM once a week.

I actually grew up on Toledo Bend and always wanted to be a professional fisherman. I came pretty close, fished in 3 FLW tourneys, but just couldn't cut it. It's for the best. If I would have made it I would have never met my wife in my senior year of college. I love her to death and she's a physician so I got lucky.

Went to school to be a PT, graduated as a PE teacher.

Taught a few year now I'm an operator at a plant.

I actually like being an operator more than teaching. I get to be outside working with my hands and do some neat chemistry in the lab or challenging running the plant on the board. As a teacher I would often drive to work hating my life.

Is so I might be coming to LF

Nope, American. It's not solely an aviation company, they do make jet engines though. I work for that business division.

HS Education, Took Drafting in HS trade school, I have 24 years of work exp. 17 with this company. Started out with this company as an ironworker helper. Moved my way up to a first class iron worker. Told our sales manager I'd like to get into the office someday. Finally got an oppurtunity and I've been here off and on for 6 years. More on than off (had to go back to ironworking for 4 months to avoid a layoff). No certifications. I've always been interested in drafting.

I love what I do, Being an ironworker has helped me incredibly in my job.

In highschool/Gradeschool I was really good with numbers but not so much with oter subjects.

Started in Accounting, changed to Finance Sophomore year.

Work as a FINRA registered financial analyst.

It's boring at times but we are about to go 100% remote (work from home) and I get off at 3 pm.

Cybersecurity Analyst/Engineer full time. Also a member of a DCO-E (Cyber) in the National Guard.

BA in Political Science and Philosophy. No immediate job so stayed and got my MA in Political Science. Job offer from the Social Security Administration, but it was soul-sucking. Got a job as a defense contractor through a fraternity brother. Sucked. Applied to OCS. Spent the next 8.5 years as a Signal Officer. Got tired of all the moving and deployments and left Active Duty (loved my actual job though).

Absolutely love it. My degrees are coming in handy quite a bit where I work, even though I'm in Cybersecurity. I'm doing what I love, get to wear the uniform still (if part time), and don't periodically get sent to third-world shitholes anymore.

Grew up on a part time farm, dad also did contract work for local drainage district so we bush hogged river levees, cut willow trees out of ditches, etc when the crop was laid by. I figure all I ever wanted to was farm, but dad was 100% against it. I had a couple of uncle types who were Farm Credit guys and they seemed to have a good life so I got an Ag Business degree and went to work for Farm Credit in 1992. Still here. Love working for farmers and helping them get what they want. Hate HATE BY GAWD I HATE all the other bullshite that goes along with it. New corporate types coming in with the same old tired ideas, regulators asking stupid questions. It's a good job with decent pay, but I don't know if I can ride it for another 10-13 years.

1) I do health research/policy development for the government

2) Was kind of a different career path, went into grad school right after finishing BSc in bio, got my PhD. Attempted to patent part of my research, ended up talking with someone who knew someone looking for my background. They "suggested" I apply for a position.

3) Actually really enjoy my job, lots of different projects instead of focusing only on one, pay is good, benefits are great, hours are amazing, lots of opportunity for advancement.

Part of state government bloat.

Graduated with a degree in one thing and got a job in pretty unrelated field. It's all about that piece of paper.

Job pays pretty damn well for a state job with lots of room to move up. Time off + benefits is icing on the cake.

Would rather have a flying job considering I have an aviation degree but you gotta pay to play and I just wanted to graduate.

Worked in a call center through college, after college and now this.

Healthcare IT Consultant

I always wanted to work in healthcare, but never really wanted to work with patients. I started with a BS in health information management, and worked in healthcare admin for a while, then went on to earn a masters in healthcare informatics and moved over to the IS side of healthcare. I did that for a couple healthcare systems and eventually transitioned to consulting.

I work from home and occasionally travel to different areas of the country. My job offers the flexibility that I desire, therefore I like it.
