As someone said earlier, the Seminoles were the only tribe never to sign a treaty.
They probably weren't the most feared, but they were never defeated.

Atakapa

The Atakapa are an indigenous people of the Southeastern Woodlands, who spoke the Atakapa language and historically lived along the Gulf of Mexico.

Their name was also spelled Attakapa, Attakapas, or Attacapa. It was the name by which the Choctaw people referred to them, meaning "man eater", for their practice of ritual cannibalism

The most feared Indians belonged to the upstate New York tribe, the Fukawe. They kept getting lost in the woods....

I hear they found descendants of this tribe in Metairie. They go by Fuggawee.
