Be more consistent.
Bad advice. If you're consistent you become predictable and then they can manipulate you. Mix things up, keep him on his toes and frick with his head. That's how you win.

kick them out and tell them that they are on their own. Also, learn to be a good parent instead of a shitty one that you currently are being

. . . but a hell of an athlete.
There's your trouble. As long as he is allowed to play sports while he is "underachieving in school" there are a number of people who have their priorities screwed up. Fix that, and you fix the problem.

Solid consideration if other responses fail

I know some parents who took away everything but a mattress and a pillow. Even took the bedroom door. Went to Walmart and bought some undies, pants, and plain shirts. Not enough for a full week so they had to do laundry. they did it until report cards came out, but usually it went on for a full year. Good grades was what got clothes back, then the door, and it worked both times after a few really rough weeks.

Kids learn from their parents. If you are an outspoken, close minded, irrational conservative type then he will most likely follow your lead. You know, like the majority of the Poli board.

Its a crap shoot. No driving until attitude changes. You got to hit em where it hurts. Phone etc. Take everything they love and take it to back yard and set it on fire.

Sometimes you just have to write them off(send to foster home) and hope you're still young enough to try again with a new one. I've had to do this with two so far

When a new teenager goes bad what do you do? Do you send them to military school? No drugs but piss poor attitude and underachieving in school and overall concern about a gradual decline in general but a hell of an athlete.
Send him to military school. Being a "hell of an athlete" doesnt mean shite and it won't help him most likely down the road as much as discipline.
