Seattle is pushing SF as the most liberal city in the USA. May have passed it.
Looks like some TD users have a new reason to hate Seattle.
Like anywhere, you tend to find and hang out with people similar to yourself. It doesn't bother me.

Ohio is pretty bad, but I think Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, and a few other Midwestern states are worse.

There are very few places on this earth that I have no interest in, and Ohio is one of those few.
Always thought there were some pretty picturesque small towns in Ohio

I'd rather live in every country in central or South America than Alaska. That graph means shite, but should have known you and Nurse would come at this thread like flies on shite.
Dude, I can understand Alaska not being your cup of tea, but you'd rather live in Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala than Alaska?

I almost said Indiana, but I've never been, except for Jeffersonville. But I didn't want to spit diarrhea like other posters who haven't been to the places they shite on.

Nurses make serious $$$$ out there as well. I wanna say CA pays nurses the best out of any state in the US.
Do you not understand cost of living?

Geographically, most of California isn't expensive.

Indiana as a whole is extremely depressing. It's what people think Michigan is.

Nurses in CA make 100-120k at least. Not every city in CA has an outrageous cost of living fwiw.
Nurses in LA average like 50-60k. No way cost of living in CA is twice what LA is.

Kansas
If you lived in the Kansas City metro area or Lawrence it wouldn't be so bad. I'm trying to think of any place in North Dakota I'd want to live.

Dakotas
South Dakota, especially west of the Missouri River is really nice and the people are super friendly. East river has some excellent pheasant hunting.
North Dakota, I'm not real sure...

I've spent about 5 years of my life in California. The cost of living is not outrageous in every part of the state... Just every part you'd actually want to live.

Nurses in California are probably living a better lifestyle (in general) than nurses in Louisiana. You probably need an extra $10k pre-tax income just to compensate for the taxes and then an extra $12k for each $100k worth of house you plan on buying. So, if your family makes $70k more then you can get a $700k home in California instead of a $200k home in Louisiana.
Best part: you get to cash out that equity later in life if you decide to retire somewhere cheaper. Neighbor behind me was a plumber in the bay area. He retired at 55 and now owns a 5,000 sqft home here in Louisiana completely paid for. Big pool, tennis court, boat, etc. I'm not convinced that he would have been better off if he worked in Louisiana instead.

I'm no expert in the field of nurse compensation however I would venture to say that the higher paid positions are going to be in the higher cost of living areas of the state.
