All I have is white shirts but I think I need to throw some color in there. Going shopping later today.

French Blue is a really pretty color that is also very professional.

Stay light. Go with with a light blue oxford shirt and a dark red tie.

I like my white shirt and lab coat and just mix up the color of the tie.

Well, my son is in Med School at LSU-Shreveport, so I'm encouraging him to wear Royal Purple.
I don't think that would work for you, though.
Seriously, a blue oxford button down with just about any color tie is good.

White can work. But need a bright tie.
Just make sure you have a few coats. Nothing looks shittier or like a resident than a wrinkled arse stupid lab coat. Makes you look like you never sleep. If the coat looks bad then leave it off.
What is your need for a lab coat?

Be sure to wear white socks with Birckenstocks to let everyone know you're going into psych...

I stick with solid shirts and basic patterned ties. Most of my shirts are lighter colors. If you're looking for a good brand, I like the roundtree and York gold label shirts. Easy to iron/doesn't wrinkle easily. Lots of colors. Relatively cheaper than other brands. Probay especially so this time of year.

Go to Nordstrom. Talk with a tall, black skinny guy there. He will seriously hook you up. You will have never looked or felt better in clothes.

Need a versatile wardrobe.
Get several pairs of relatively cheap, but comfortable DARK pants. (Olive, gray, black, navy, etc).
Get several well fitting, non-iron, piqued dress shirts. I get mine from Vanheusen. I rarely wear nice shirts (Ie Brooks Brothers) to work b/c of blood and other secretions getting on them.
In terms of ties, solid colors, and small simple patterns are best. Once again , versatile.
If your trying to be dressy, for a speech or meeting, white shirt with a blue tie is my go to.

Deep, rich colors with stripes. My blue and gold as well as blue and orange always got compliments from patients.
Now that I work in the ER, I have no idea where my white coat is...

French blue is the correct answer.

Stick with the white button down.
Rock this baby year-round, you'll get a nickname out of it for life and laid more because of it.
You're welcomed in advance and let me be the first to call you Dr. Mardi Gras.

when i was in school i usually just wore white. it goes well and you have the most versatility with ties to mix things up. now it's just scrubs all day everyday. makes life so much easier.
