What paying job have you held in your life on which you had to work hardest physically?

I worked for a moving company one summer. I remember one stretch of moving furniture 40 hours in 3 days. That can wear you out pretty good

Railroad building, replacing sections of track and rerailing derailed cars.(9 years)

Pimping was very physical work. I can recall my pimp hand being quite sore on occasions when the bitches didn't have my money.

I worked for the parks and recreation department of a local municipality for 6 years while in college.

There were days I slept almost the entire day.

There where days where I picked up a weed eater at 6 am and put it down 8 hours later.

I worked at Colonial Country Club for the week of the PGA tournament there every May when I was in college

The first 3 years I did it I worked in the purchasing department, which was awesome, as all I did was drive around a golf cart all over the course delivering and picking up things. Was easy money

My 4th and final year though a bunch of my football teammates applied and the employment director decided to create this "special team" for us which she didn't tell us about. However she gave me the option to keep doing purchasing, or join my football teammates on this new special team. Wanting to work with my friends, I chose the "special team"

The reason she was in the dark about the "special team"? Because it was nothing more than the kitchen bitch team. Had she told us what it was we never would have agreed. Basically all we did was wash dishes, clean, and take out the trash the entire week, for all 8 days, 18 hours a day. 8am-2am for 8 straight days. And doing that shite in a kitchen at a golf course during PGA week is like cooking for thousands of people every night. And this was the week before summer workouts started. It sucked balls. Generally around 9pm we would shut the kitchen down and we had to clean every dish and clean up the entire kitchen so it would take about 5 hours.

My paycheck had 128 hours(88 overtime hours) at 11 dollars an hour on it plus a $500 bonus, so it was about $2000 for a week of work. But it wasn't worth it. It was exhausting, mind numbing and just terrible. And we all went into Summer Workouts extremely tired and it took us a while to catch up.

No idea how I made it through that week to this day without going crazy. The only thing that made it not suck was I did it together with some good friends of mine. It was funny how we showed up that first Sunday acting like it was going to be fun and the first thing they did was hand us an apron and told us to get going on washing dishes. We thought we would only do that for a bit and move onto funner things. 15 hours later we were still washing dishes.

Working the press in our family's cotton gin. $6.00/hr for 12 hours, 6 days a week. Back before everything got automated, we had to rotate the press and unload the bales by hand, and load them. What a way to teach my 18 year old self that I didn't want to do manual labor anymore. It sucked.

I worked for a roofing crew when I was in HS one summer.

I was the bitch boy that hauled the pack of shingles up the ladders all day. A pack of shingles weighs about 50 lbs.

By the end of the summer I could do 2 at a time.
