it's a golden orb weaver spider....

typically their webs have a reinforced zig zag in the middle, and those damn spiders can be pretty big....

Not as dangerous as the Brazilian species. You have to really frick with them to provoke an attack.

I just left him alone, cause he's out by the light on the corner of my shop.
Figured he's got an all you can eat buffet of bugs by that light.

As I mentioned earlier I saw them everywhere as a kid but there size along kept me very cautious of them. No way I was messing with them.

It is a golden orb. I call them banana spiders. I've always been under the impression that they are harmless to humans.

Keep him around to keep the bugs away.

When I was a kid. We would catch bugs and throw them into the web. Those spiders would turn into a killing machine and the prey was killed and wrapped up with quickness. A locust makes for some good action complete with locust noise and wings flapping.
