The position of it's ears in no way says "laid back" to me.

Dog is super alert and high strung in that pic.

If I had to guess, some combination of lab (eyes) and weimeraner (face shape and same general body shape as a lab).

The ones saying Ridgeback could be correct too if he had a shot of him standing up but they are typically much more barrel chested (at least the ones i have seen). The other argument against the ridgeback, I have never heard of a ridgeback mutt. they are bred for specific purposes and most owners wouldn't let them near another breed to mate.
