It appears that vaccine mandates/mask mandates are finally coming to an end in Blue areas bc of optics mainly I guess. Nola is still standing firm and probably will continue to do so for some time at least a couple weeks past MG is my assumption though could be through the summer very easily I guess (they were one of the 1st to implement).

The bigger issues are the rampant crime and the DA who basically allows a revolving door for criminals and terrible infrastructure that never gets addressed. Imo that is obviously the bigger concern long run. Police are woefully shorthanded already and seem to be extremely restrained on what they can do (why anyone would want to be a cop in Nola is beyond me).

At what point would you no longer send your kid to school to at Stuart Hall or CBS or Brother Martin or MCA or Jesuit or Dominican, etc? At what point, would you stay away for festivals and MG? At what point would you say living Uptown or LV is just not worth the added BS, inconvenience and cost for what you are paying to live there. Is there a point where even die hard New Orleanians say enough is enough?

If I want to go to Mogadishu, I'll go to Mogadishu.

I don't want to go to Mogadishu, therefore I stay out of New Orleans

Already there. Dont go unless I have to, only take jobs that pay well above average and even then the location still matters.

I've already reached a breaking point. I don't go into Orleans Parish unless absolutely necessary.

WAY past that point. Teedy being re-elected without opposition ensured I will continue to stay far far away.

I’m already at that point.

I live in the city and I’ll go get gas and groceries in Jefferson now.

I hear you. I am very curious how long folks will put up with the Nola BS and still send their kids to school there especially when you don’t have to put up with any of the BS a couple miles down the road.

I'm past my breaking point, hence my thread a few days ago indicating I'm done and moving out.

Lost would be an improvement for city leadership. They have neither the will nor the ability to fix the crime and other issues, so instead they distract with Covid scare tactics and draconian measures.

Lost in all this mask mandate bullshite is the fact that the ground is positively littered with masks (I never want to hear another talking about about straws killing turtles), and the thugs who are terrorizing people are using masks to both blend in and hide their identity from cameras.

Absolute clown show.

...surviving the trip (without getting my rental carjacked) to the negotiating table in the NOLA highrise near the dome.

Remember when you're walking anywhere on the streets of NOLA. A turd is watching you.

Haven't spent a dime in NOLA since Teedy's vaccine passport BS started. Used to go for dinner and a night out once or twice a month. Now even if they got rid of the vaccine passport, I'd prefer not to get carjacked

I went to a funeral, for an hour to pay my respects, quickly left. I want the city to collapse.

Don't go any more.

Several months ago coming back from Mississippi, had ignored gas gauge, and had to stop in NO East for gas. Nice car and old white guy looked like an easy mark, I guess. Carrying but didn't particularly want to shoot to defend myself. Got about three dollars worth and had to open my coat to one guy to show pistol. He was demanding money about six inches from my face. Got cursed lower than a dog and considered myself lucky to get out.

Do miss poker tournaments at Harrah's though.

I don’t know the answer to this but i don’t see the high schools being affected. There are just not “affordable alternatives” in JP that many people would be willing to consider. This New Orleans conversation has been around for years but BM, MCA, Jesuit and Dominican still have the highest enrollment as far as i know. And CBS is busting at the seams.

High crime rate, taxes and insurance are deal breakers for individuals and businesses.

At the places I frequent, nobody is enforcing anything.

As far as crime is concerned, New Orleans has had severe issues with that forever. They got fairly good results under Richard Pennington. So, it has been dealt with before, and perhaps could be again. But NOPD needs about a thousand more cops to really get good control of the crime.

Right now, the city is victim to the latest leftist crime-fighting ideology. This isn't Minneapolis, Portland, or Seattle. Those style policies do not work here, for obvious reasons if you think about it for two seconds.

All that said, we're a long way from my breaking point. Major cities all over this country are having major problems with crime. I ask: where is there a success story right now?
