Eating Mac&Cheese out of the box in college on weekends (the dorm cafeterias were closed on weekends) because they were only 49 cents a box at the A&P.

I've been to where I have had nothing (like have to hit up coinstar just to get gas) until my next paycheck . Sucks, but never like in a position where I had no food or place to stay. Just was an idiot who didn't know you are supposed to pay yourself first (save).

Been poor in my day, but at least I have a full head of hair, not on disability, and don't wrangle snakes for a living.

Life is good.

Asking the water company not to turn off my water and paying half on the power bill. No cable or internet at that time. I had a low paying career, but paid a year's worth of rent in advance. My money kept being spent fixing a giant, expensive, POS truck (almost $30k in repairs). I needed the truck to work, and would've taken a humongous hit if I sold it broken, so I had no other option.

I was too stubborn to take help, but finally had to ask for a $15k loan to finish getting the truck working because I completely ran out of money.

Money buys happiness. If you disagree, you haven't ever been poor.

Every single time I've ever been poor can be attributed to a woman. Every damn time.

I didn't have any money to fill up with gas. Was meeting my parents hoping they'd fill me up and ran out on the way.

First semester I moved out. Paid for the semester and the next week my car broke down. Took cats bus from Essen to brcc to work and back. Told my parents about it a 2 years later. My mom cried. She said that it was a failure on their part that I felt like I couldn't ask for help. Thank God I worked at a restaurant. My manager just gave me a burger or two every night I got off work.

It makes me appreciate being financially stable now so much more.

I used to say if you don't know how to turn your power or water back on, you've never been broke. Lol

$15k loan to finish repairs?
What wrecked bad with no collision insurance?
I would have walked away from it. Taken it to the spillway and used it for target practice.
