Went to a wedding similar to OP (except they weren't virgins) where the entire family was super religious so not even a mention of alcohol or music or dancing was allowed. We got toasted before the wedding but the bride made it awkward by singing a song to the groom.

Oh, and it was ON St. Patrick's Day so that wasn't too fun that year.

Went to a baptist wedding once. It didn't last long, but the reception after was coffee and fruit appetizers. I'm not for or against alcohol either way, but it was frustrating knowing half the wedding party were complete drunks but everyone was putting on a pretty face and it seemed twilight zonish. Fake to the point of being awkward.

This is why I always sit on the end of the pew at Catholic weddings. Been to far too many.

That sounds terrible. You're a better person than I am. I would skip that in a heartbeat.

Reason 10000000001 why I'll only attend a Jewish or Indian wedding.

Any of them I attended while sober, so none of them.

Funny story to get out of a wedding.

Friend of wife's. Nice girl, but terrible taste in men. SHe just can't help choosing losers. Been married 3 times since we've know here which is less than 10 years.

Last wedding she invited us , of course, and I told her "I'm busy that weekend, I'll catch the next one" she was LIVID.

That marriage lasted about 8 months, now she's in love again.............. Poor thing.

Don't those weddings last like 3 hours and don't they drink during the wedding ceremony

Not any that I've been to. They usually last about an hour or a little over an hour (every once in a while you get one with drawn out, dramatic vows or something). I've never had alcohol during the ceremony, but they always have a shite ton of alcohol at the receptions.

I went to my classmate/ex-coworkers wedding. Back in school he was pretty wild but after he graduated and found God he was a whole different ball game. Him and his fiance (now wife) were both Christians and had their wedding on a plantation in Louisiana. There was a DJ and music, but the bar menu was literally variations of juice and water. I think even the champagne wasn't real. Plenty of mosquitoes though.

My Uncle is Baptist Preacher, all of his kids weddings were boring. They basically had a pot luck dinner for the reception.

1. It's taking place at a Christian missionary where her husband works - 2+ hours away. 2. It's at 2:30 in the afternoon. 3. There will be no alcohol. 4. There will be no band, DJ, or music of any kind. 5. Bride and groom are both 30+ year old virgins. Not that that necessarily matters, but it sets the scene. I will have little in common with any of these people.

I went to a very similar wedding several years ago. It was a coworker but no one else from work went. Just sat there awkwardly without any booze because it was at a church camp ground.

There was some music, but it was the guy’s friend with a guitar. Ate a couple of Sam’s Club chicken fingers and left after the newely weds stopped at our table.

I’ve been to a morman wedding, that wasn’t exactly exciting, but the worst was an Indian wedding. It wasn’t because of lack of experience, it was because the ceremony last over four hours and I understood about six words of the entire thing.

If I did, I can't remember, but I don't think I ever attended a wedding where there was no alcohol.

Well, I take that back. I was a best man in a wedding. My friend married a chick from a baptist family. There was limited amount of alcohol and there was a DJ there to play music just for the wedding dances and what not. And it was in January.. It was cold as frick that day. That would probably be the most boring wedding for me.

7th Day Adventist. They are vegetarians by faith. It was awful. And I really thought I was going to have a blast, because I would be one of the few white people there and black chicks fricking love me. No such luck.

So, to recap, no booze, no meat, no brown sugar. Oh, and no dancing.
