It is, take a gander for yourself. Do you think someone would lie on an anonymous sports message board?

I say it is Marketing.

English does require alot of detailed writing and reading some serious literature. That alone makes it tougher in my opinion

Nope. Early Childhood Education.

At every commencement, you could always bank on 50-75% of the first honors graduates (perfect 4.0 GPA) being early childhood education majors.

Which is part of why people eye roll teachers sometimes. Is it a valuable profession? Of course. Are they absolutely necessary? Yes.

But is it an easy major? Yes. On top of that, you don't really need to go to competitive schools to get it. You get an easy degree from an easy school that doesn't have to cost a bunch of money, and that's one reason that people aren't demanding significant increases in teacher salary on their behalf.

But there could be more difficult programs created to foster better development of our teachers, but no one is really interested in that. It doesn't HAVE to be easy, but the need to enroll everyone in college created the need to have easier degrees. Not everyone is exactly as capable as everyone else.

It's actually pretty easy to BS your way through it with sparknotes, even in college. There's so much subjective grading. If you're an inherently good writer, you can pull off at least a B without reading much.

^^ THIS

Honestly, the reason alot of subject degree people (Chemistry, Physics, Math, etc.) do not want to become teachers is not only the low pay, but that it gets little respect because of how easy it is to become one

"No sir that was too difficult for me I majored in journalism"

If you're looking at Overall Difficulty - Physics (and it's relatives - Astronomy, Cosmology, etc.), Math, Chemistry, Econ, Philosophy are all Top Tier. The next group would probably be English, History, Biology, Computer Science, etc. If you notice, most of these are more classic areas of study (sans Comp Sci), the problem with the rest is that they mostly came post-1960 with the need of hippy snowflakes where everyone needed to be their own thing. Business and Engineering were both vocational up to that point, not University, or Theoretical, in nature. They did/do not require that level of understanding or knowledge. And they still don't in general. That's why after these two tiers (plus a few missing majors), it's everything else in a giant barrel of "meh, not that hard at all."

I mentioned this issue is one of my previous threads. In the end, it really depends on the university. IVY leagues and state schools structure vocational degrees like engineering and nursing to be more theoretical in nature.

Likewise, an easier institution can take harder programs and water down the content so much that it seems simpler than what it is.

At LSU, meteorology, believe it or not. It's just general studies with a few science electives.

The certification process is a racket designed to pour in money to the state/schools. If you have a math degree you should be able to teach math. History, English, etc.

I teach Communications at the university level, and I won't lie - its one of the easiest majors. When done right, a communication graduate should be somewhat knowledgeable in several different areas, but an expert in few.

Sports Administration, Hospitality Management and General Business are easier though in my opinion.

Sports Admin is a joke. Lots of classes on the rules of different sports. The hard classes in Sports Admin are unfamiliar sports like tennis, and the couple of theory classes they have to take.

Hospitality Management seems to attract lower achieving students. Most of these grads end up being the manager at Chilis or the front desk supervisor at the Marriott - at best.

General business is hit and miss. You have talented people in this major that just chose the wrong degree. But you take a couple of finance classes, a couple of accounting classes, a couple of management classes - never get detailed in anything.
