Furthermore, it will probably take hundreds, if not thousands of years for an atmosphere to develop. And what gravity? Isn't gravity needed to hold the atmosphere on the planet?
Does Mars have enough for it to work?

And if one thing goes wrong on the way there, it's likely fatal.

The people doing this will need to be like the Gemini and Apollo folks.

I'm surprised all the snowflakes are in favor of colonizing Mars. We can't so much as crank our cars without being accused of committing rape on Gaia. Wouldn't terraforming Mars be the ultimate act of interplanetary gang rape?

Good Gracious you millennial snow flakes are a fracking trip. It's humorous but quite sad that you truely fear the planet will be rendered uninhabitable due to man made climate change

Ok, so you really don't think we can frick up the planet with nuclear weaponry? We got strikingly close to it during the Cold War. I do believe in Global Warming, but I think we'll be able to turn it around and make the planet better in the long term. But a mad man getting his hands on nuclear weaponry and destroying civilization should rightfully concern you. And I'm somehow a snowflake for thinking this through?

Would be a great place for all the liberals to go. I'd donate to that.

but I am curious about the long term goals here.
The only way to prevent the extinction of our species is to push ourselves so far and widespread out into the cosmos that no singular event could destroy us all.

Actually, I WAS the aircraft commander of "Hobby 63", the USAF C-130J that performed the flyover for the Plaquemine Vets Day program. I'm pretty easy to find on Facebook, so that should be easy to confirm.

Sorry to disappoint you, but there was nothing sketchy or interesting going on. Just some normal military aviation activity.

Or... maybe you already believe me and are just kidding around. That's OK too.

Go read some books, dumbass. Not a millennial or snowflake here. Regardless of your opinion on global warming or the possibility of nuclear war, extinction events happen periodically. They've happened here before, and they will happen again at some point. Meteors, comets, and gamma ray bursts are a few of the threats out there that could wipe out life on the planet at any time. If the human race wants to avoid extinction, we have to diversify. Not to mention, Mars is only the first step. Man will eventually have to go interstellar, because the Earth will not survive the sun's red giant phase. Read more, post less, and you won't look like such a dumbass.

I don't know when, but here's some words of wisdom: the biggest enemy is the status quo. Don't believe me, ask the media and the Democratic Party how underestimating Trump worked out for them. Look at any empire or species in history. If you aren't active and further pushing yourself, then some outside source will inevitably destroy you. We need to reach out for the stars and further ourselves as a species to save ourselves.

Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them if you did

Calm down snowflake...lets be rational. Yes, if there was an all out nuclear war then I'm sure most parts of the planet would be rendered uninhabitable. I believe in taking care of our planet but the whole "man made climate change" is a complete hoax.
*whenever you have to manipulate data with climate models to achieve a desired result, it's not science! Plus, these models don't take into account Solar activity which drastically alters our planets climate & volcanic activity. The fact that you believe we can just change something as complex as the climate is simply laughable.

I'm in favor of colonizing Mars. Expand the human footprint in Sol and then figure out the rest later.

Trump wants NASA to reach the outer limits of our solar system by 2100. So, keep an eye on it.

Lol...ok! Yeah, figure out the rest later.
It's impossible with our current technology, at least for "Man" to explore other planets successfully. The emphasis should be put on developing robots or droids that don't require our "necessities" to explore space.
