In our old house my wife had a air jet tub cannot remember the brand. The advantage was you did not have old hair and water sitting in the lines. She loved it.

Ours was used three times yesterday alone.

There's an "industry" for bath tub sales?

I would assume so since every house in the US has at least one tub or more and they have to come from somewhere. Of course there is an industry for bath tubs; jetted and non-jetted.

hell there is an industry just for soap holders in bath-tubs. Of course there is a bath tub industry.

I researched and got the ones that had "quick drain" and the hoses run above the jets so that the lines do not retain water.

Does not matter one bit how it's piped if it's piped with soft rubber hose, which is common. It will still grow mold and mildew on the inside whether it retains water in the line or not. Only hard piped PVC lines will not mold or mildew but that costs more.

What about the bubble tubs that just blow air through the thousands of holes on the bottom?

Put one in the house I built this year.

Now that the kids have all moved out we use it once or twice a month. Not for baths.

If we want to get clean that's what the big shower is for.

I've never understood the appeal of baths. Let me stew in my own filth for a half hour.

Baths are incredible.

After a long day at work, dim the lights, pour a scotch, chill in a hot bath for an hour in silence. Then shower off after.

My baths aren't* meant to clean me off. They're meant to soak in some hot water and relax. Pour some bubble bath in there and some epsom salt after a hard work out and its the shite.

Just shower after.

we get much more use out of the hot tub outside.

Most folks are going to be better served getting a portable spa or other outside hot tub, than a jetted tub in the bathroom. Someone who loves it and knows they would use it daily or weekly? That's about the only exception to the rule.

Heck, I would get more use out of a steam shower or even a sauna than I would a jetted tub. Deep soaker would be the way to go for most folks inside.

Those are actual Jacuzzi's and need to have the water treated similar to a pool. The problem with soft pvc pipe is it's not rated for potable water and that's why it molds and mildews on the inside so bad. Hard pvc is different. It does not mold or mildew and that's why better Jacuzzi's use it and use the flexible pvc only for adding air from the blower to the line.

I'm thinking about removing the bath tub in our guest room and putting in a sealed shower with glass doors and a wooden bench so we have a steam shower.

I would use the shite outta that. I looked up the prices though and its thousands of dollars so it'll probably never happen
