Move to Houston. Their job market is unreal. Make some good money and get some experience then move to New Orleans in two years.

I'd actually advise the opposite. I view NOLA as a great place for young professionals, but the greater Houston area's job market, housing market, cost of living, schools, etc. make it a more attractive option as you get older. NOLA is getting better at keeping people here permanently, but there's still a lot of pros to living in greater Houston.

I would stay out of major cities if possible. I prefer a community just large enough to support a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment, but with good public schools, reasonable traffic and low levels of pollution. Unfortunately, many jobs require you to subject yourself to the human ant hills.

Yea Austin and Houston are currently in the top 5 without a doubt. Is Houston really a good city to live in though? How are the people?

Depends on where you live, but it is a great place to live. Of course, I don't buy into the notion that because the city revolves around making money & energy that it means it has no culture.

Again, what are your options?

Again, I don't have any limitations except it has to be warmish weather year around. That's really it for my job.

How can a city that is almost completely fueled by tourism be an ideal place for young professionals?

I'm a married woman.

Lots of hot chicks in Scottsdale and Tempe though.

Depending on what your field is....there are many companies that have a corporate office here.

Austin and Dallas are both cool. Tons of stuff to do and a lot of job opportunities.

I would go with Austin over Houston, unless you get a much better job in Houston. Austin has lots of cool outdoor things to do nearby and world class BBQ. And if you're single....
