Excellent habitat for cock roaches.

Stepped into houses down there where you couldn't spot a square inch of surface area that didn't have a roach crawling on it, horizontally and vertically.

Residents inside acting oblivious to it. Watched a young child eating corn flakes as roaches crawled all over the table and on her as she ate.

It was surreal.

I would say it is "Acadiana" until somewhere between Jeanerette and Baldwin. At that point it becomes "Bayou". So it is mostly Acadiana.
