If they can't think using any words. Try to think about something without using any words at all. It's impossible. What goes through animals heads?

It does not take a lot of words to sit there and lick your own balls for a while...

And thats why language changes everything. They do have behaviors that act like languages.

What about infants? They do not know the language yet, wonder what they think?

When I imagine an evening with Ashley Anne Vickers no words are necessary.

ETA- It helps that I only have to imagine 30-40 seconds though. And because I'm a man of the people...

What's amazing to me is that they're able to communicate just fine. My dog knows her routine and will tell us if we deviate from it.

She goes outside right after she eats and if we don't bring her, she pushes us until we do.

There are processes, some even pretty complex, that occur in my mind without verbalizing it. When trying to solve a problem or having a conversation I usually figure it out faster than I can verbalize it. I visualize it. Then in figuring out how to verbalize it I go over it and analyze it again.

Do you really think in words?

I think words if I'm writing or reading or something of that nature. Or like thinking of memories or scenarios that involve words. But if I am just doing general thinking - problem solving, whatever - I usually just think in ... Images, emotions. I don't like think actual words in my head like "I think I divide this by three and add four and subtract two..."

So I would imagine animals just think that way.
