Within 20 years buy some property and do enough small scale farming to supplement my retirement income from investments. One day.

Average in the us is 71 right?
And this may be a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. The average is 71, so 50% of men die before reaching 71 and 50% die after reaching 71 correct?

You never know what's going to happen but life expectancy for a upper class white male is almost 80 years old.

The rule of thumb is 25x your first year annual spend, and you can have 30 years of income. I will probably need closer to 40. But I doubt I will actually stop working 100% until I am in my late 50s.

I think I'm going to take photography more seriously and do photo guiding trips during the summer months. Already know where I want to live, will have a cabin to live in full time. I'm learning from a friend and local photographer who does excursions into Glacier Bay.
Don't need a lot, don't want a lot. Will have a nice boat to cruise around in though, maybe an RV.

Nothing definitive but it involves a ski place in CO, a beach house somewhere and some kind of presence in Boston.

It doesn't take a lot of money to live if you have no mortgage, no kids to support, and no car payments. The largest expense will be getting health insurance until Medicare kicks in. Most people will have a major medical expense before 60, and if you don't plan, that will break you. Also, if your parents don't have LTC insurance, don't expect much from them. They will probably spend most of their money the last two years of their life taking care of each other.

I plan to work forever, unless I have a catastrophic disease or physical disablity. I have about $215K saved already but am 41 so a little behind the curve.

I think most people fail to realize they won't be physically able to still do these sorta things....better do them now. You probably won't even want to do them then because you'll be old, unemployed, and worried about making every dollar you still have left last.
