3 years ago my dad was diagnosed with cancer. i'd go visit him every day after work, stay a while and mostly just talk. stupid stuff, ya know...what i did that day, how hospital food sucks, all that. i told him about landing a new job, and he said "that's nice, son." i told him about the new girl who was crazy about me, and he said "that's nice, son." but when i told him i made Tier 2, he looked me right in the eye, pulled the oxygen tube from his nose and said "i'm proud of you, baw. i wish your mom was around to hear this." he didn't even cry at her funeral, but i swear to god i saw a tear welling up in his bloodshot eyes. so you wanna know what the tier rankings are? well i'll tell you: i know one day i might grow out of it, but right now, and i think i speak for everyone whose dad has cancer when i say that the tier rankings are one of, if not the most, important things in my life.
