For your mildly interesting news of the day:

quote:

SIMSBURY, CT (WCMH) — The small deer can be seen struggling to make it back to land.

According to officers in the area, the deer was at one point in the water, before making it to solid ice.

There is a reported rescue underway to get the deer safely off the ice, but crews have not reached the deer at this point.

Is it a whitetail? If so, that explains a lot of the rescue privilege.

Ever since they started to broadcast it, animal rights activists tuned in and are complaining that they're not doing enough to help the deer. It's hilarious.

It appears 2 women have taken over the rescue operation. One is carrying a handbag.

The cops seem to be cool with them doing whatever to get the deer.

If I was there there wouldn't have been enough time for someone to break out their phone. its amazing that people take soo long to do something so simple.

ETA: its literally 4 feet from that bank.

so in over a half hour since this post they still haven't gotten an exhausted deer of the ice. Get a kayak and a sturdy stick or garden tool to scoot across the ice. Tie a rope and drag it off. How complicated is this?

Apparently more complicated than you'd think.
