"And I was born in the 80s so no bias"

So at best you were 9 years old when the 80s ended. Pop culture wise the 80s sh##s all over the 90s and sh##s on 2000-2014 even more. The first 2 or 3 years of the 90s were still good only because they were an extension pop culture wise of the 80s. There was more influential pop culture from the 80s alone that stands the test of time than from 1990 until now. Only the 1960s had greater pop culture than the 80s.

More influential? The 80s as a whole is usually mocked because of how excessive and cheesy everything was.

Nah. 90s is what I think of as the ultimate definition of "Modern". The 90s was a fantastic time to live in and kind of the last bit of fresh air before things went to shite from a government standpoint. There was lots of high art, the world was as peaceful as it ever has been, no politically correct bullshite, no one tracking you all the time. Just really a great point in history to be alive. The 90s I think is the single best decade in human history. They say "party like its 1999" for a reason.

I was born in 78 and grew up in the 80s. Don't know how anyone can say the 80s sucked. Music, movies, fashion, toys......all fun.

Just a fun decade to be a child in....can only imagine how fun it was to be a teen or college kid in that decade.

Nailed it. Uncreative, disinterested and lazy. Immature goes without saying.

Personally I blame Justin Timberlake, Marshall Mathers, Bill Clinton, and corporate greed.

You blame Justin Timberlake? What wrong has he done? Ripped off Janet Jackson's bra, which may have been the funniest thing on national television, especially since I was watching that in a Methodist church and the prudes just about shat themselves?

And Bill Clinton is the best president of my lifetime. The worst thing that happened under his watch is he got head from an intern. A lot worse things happened under every other president in my life and they all failed in some way. Can't think of a major frick-up under Clinton which continues to affect my daily lifetime.

Nailed it. Then the internet and cell phones became common place and it's been downhill since.

Early 90's hip hop is the worst music in history. Not rap. Hip Hop. The clothes also that coincided was horrible.

Yeah, the music was shite in the 90s, but everything else was awesome. Aside from the music, I really don't see how anyone living today could not put the 90s as the single best decade of their existence.

The 90s introduced the Internet and turned everyone into narcissists and armchair hacks in everything from politics to sports.

So yes it was the turning point when everything started to go downhill, *especially* music.

Yeah I really wish I would have been in college in the 80s. Stories my uncles have told me were insane

Quite possibly. For kids stuff, it was great. Movies, not as good as the 80s, but still had some solid flicks. For music and fashion, it was atrocious, but fashion was awful in the 80s as well.

I really like 80s movies, but let's face it that most of them were cheesy. The 90s, not so much. Yeah, they had them, but the most memorable movies from the 90s are pretty much masterpieces. We had "Big Trouble in Little China" and "The Goonies" as memorable films in the 80s. The 90s gave us stuff like Shawshank, Schindler's List, The Truman Show, and Goodfellas. I think that many 80s movies are more defined by slouch, while the 90s great movies are period pieces and will hold up far better in the coming decades than the 80s will.
