Not a watch guy but the one thing that annoyed me was if you wore the watch on your left arm the winder would dig into your hand.

When I wore a watch I would wear it on the palm side. I started doing it when I was a young runner. My coach, who was a bad arse runner in his day, wore his like that. It makes it easier to look at the watch when you are running fast.

My dad told me when they were on patrol, it helped cut down on the chance moonlight/light would glare and give their position away. He said they had a certain way they smoked too, but I can't remember what he said, maybe with the flame in the inside of palm.

I'm a left and prefer to wear a watch that way. Problem is that you scratch the face much more that way.
