These are suitable options as well.

There are solid watches in that range. You can even get watches with sapphire crystals for a little over $300. Yes, they aren't as quality as a watch for $2000, but that's why it costs less. Shoot. A seiko 5 for like $60 is pretty good for what it is. I hear they even keep pretty good time. It just isn't worth actually getting service work done on it, unless you have sentimental attachment for it.

I picked that price range because I don't want to go all in and regret buying a watch. It's a gradual thing. I just never liked wearing watches.

Seiko SK009 is right at $200. Seiko SARB017 if you want to spend a little more. Have both and they're great watches. The sarb017 is the best watch under $1k imo. Pictures on Amazon don't do it justice find some customer pictures

That's kinda my point.

From a pure timekeeping standpoint, there is little difference between a G-shock and something that pushes the envelope of his budget.

There are a few.

Where is the Invicta love?

Invicta is not a bad watch. Just a little goofy marketing where you can buy one for $75 on Amazon everyday, but they say they are normally like $900.

Get on Amazon prime day and get a Seiko.

Invictas suck. They are costume jewelry rip offs at best and look like party city novelty watches at worst. And the $900 price thing is a load of horseshite

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll check some of these recommendations out.

I'd like to really treat myself, but like I said a little earlier I'm a little worried that I won't like the feel on my wrist.

You should definitely just pick up a $50 Seiko and go from there.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, here are some respectable watches under $1,000. LINK

You're just being a little snobby about this. I have read some people say the same thing you are saying about watches in the $1000-$3000 range. At any price point there are products that are bad value and others that give at least some bang for the buck.

For exampl. Seiko or citizen or even your g shock are at least made by watch companies that make quality products and fossil and Michael Kors are fashion watches that are entirely style over substance, not that there's necessarily a ton wrong with that, especially at those prices.
