My wife's nephew was killed on Tulane ave late last night at 2:45. He was going home back to Baton Rouge and and was driving on the wrong side of the street (don't know if he was drunk or not) and ran head on with a ambulance and died on the spot. They told my sister in law that they couldn't see his body until tomorrow because today is a Holliday and was wondering if anybody was in the area around that time or heard anything about it. We are still trying to find out more about what happened.

was anyone in the ambulance on the way to the hospital? is the other driver ok? i'm sorry, but i am having trouble finding sympathy for him in the situation you described...

Doesn't sound like he's asking for your sympathy...

I don't know and nobody knows anything about the people in the ambulance and we are just trying to find out more details. All we know right now is the detectives are investigating right now and I'm sure they will call his mom when they finish.

With it being Mardi Gras, I'd be willing to bet that show on A&E that follows ambulance and police are filming right now. Possible that rig was being filmed and there could be some type of footage that could shed light on the incident.

My assumption is the administrative staff for the coroner's office is off today and only essential personnel are working. Similar to how the permit division of NOPD is closed but there's obviously a police presence today.

whatever, i get a little stirred up when things like this happen to first responders. sounds like it was a pretty avoidable accident.

I'm terribly sorry for your lose. It's something that his family will never get over. Was this a young guy? I wish he would of just hunkered down for the night rather then try to go back to Baton Rouge at 2:45 am.
