Figured I would post the website for the emission claims scandal. You have to enter a good bit of information but it tells you what amount you will be getting back if you decide to sell it back or fix it.

Thanks, are you taking the buyback or the fix? I have a 2014 Jetta TDI and right now I am leaning towards the fix. Even though I kind of hope they never get the fix approved and VW are forced to buy back the car in two years down the line.

That's exactly what I am doing for my 2013 passat. I have read though that a fix is about to be approved very soon and that it shouldnt affect mpg or performance that much but the DPF intake will be greater. There is just nothing else on the market that has the power and fuel economy of these cars so I dont want to get rid of it.

Did you do it yet?

The site looks low rent and isn't supposed to released until the 31st.

That link is on vwvortex too. I'll let a few of those people get viruses before I try.

We have until the middle of 2018 to accept the buyback. It seems like a no-brainier to keep driving the damn thing and racking up mileage considering you'll still get close to the same amount as it's determined from clean trade in value before the scandal broke.

My daughter's Sonata Hybrid might give you a run for your money.

Sonata's as well as other hybrids have much smaller trunks than the passat. I can fit as much in there as my ford edge.

I thought the same thing. Only concern is if you get in a wreck there is no way you will get the same value from the insurance company. Tough call.

Regardless, we'll still get a good chunk, even if they total it out. But as long as it isn't totaled and drives, it will get the same value. I'm just not sure if the clean book value will adjust with the mileage. I guess it would be minimal, like $2k or less, no matter the amount of miles accumulated.

Is this an actual site? I don't see a link to it from VWcourtsettlement.com

I'm beginning to wonder if it was mistakenly launched or it isn't "operational" yet. I tried calling the number and it gets a "call can't be completed as dialed" message. I'm guessing they launched the website ahead of schedule to work out kinks before it goes fully operational.

frick off. I just got a $2500 check in the mail from CARB for the electric car we just purchased. It's wasn't a tax credit or tax break. It was a straight up check.

And they financed that credit through taxation. Congrats on being excited for being the equivalent of a welfare recipient. If you did it for environmental reasons, well congrats, 40% of California's electricity comes from coal. We won't even address the water issue. California, no matter how hard they try, will always be an ecological disaster. But hey, whatever makes you feel good.

I just want to know a time line of when they'll actually buy back. I know am estimable dollar value. I want to know when I'll need to buy a new vehicle if I take the buyback.

Just a question, if the tdi is going to get worse mileage if the fix is performed what is the incentive to fix it?

If you don't fix it or sell it back, you do not receive that payout. So essentially you're giving up between $5,100 - $10,000 if you don't chose either option. That's 2,550 - 5000 gallons of diesel, or 50,000 - 100,000 miles of drive time. Furthermore, if you choose the buyback option, you get book value before the scandal broke, which amounts to roughly $6,000 for me. So some would effectively be giving up $11,000+ by not choosing either option.
