which shoe do you prefer for casual use? I've always been a vans fan, but leaning towards converse these days.

Hard pass on both. I’d wear Cole Haan driver loafers in their place.
(FWIW, my company is HQ’ed in SF. Everyone wears chucks or vans out there. It’s just not my style.)

I never wear my Chucks any more, it's a horribly uncomfortable shoe.
With the vans, I have the Classic Lites, and it's probably my favorite shoe of all time.

Chucks are the ultimate try-hard shoes. Spicoli wore Vans, so go with those.
