As a former Journeys Store Manager.
I prefer vans and love all of my vans Slip-Ons.
But I would recommend the Converse Chuck Taylor II. They have more padding on the inside and are more comfortable than both the slips ons and the original converse.

Then as you know Chuck's were great but in no way could hold up to constant skating. The canvas didn't stand a chance. Vans was always a better shoe but a pair of Airwalk was where it was at.
I'm 44 and I still skate occasionally with my 12yo and I think I'm going to buy me a pair of Airwalks for skate shoes because of this thread - thanks.

That's what you think in your head. They have poor aesthetics & no profile. At least the high top chucks add some framing to your legs.
Im not saying all clothing goes out of style but with time comes improvements in style & comfort. Who wants to wear a boring, flat soled shoe when there are so many better options now? Step your game up
