The only state in the U.S. to do it I believe.

Although I do not really condone the death penalty, this seems like the most humane way if we have to have it.

Edit: Utah is not the only state. Wyoming recently passed it as well and Oklahoma has it.

Now if only we could get castration as the national punishment for rapists and child molesters, we'd be all good.

Just sayin, if I was asked to shoot a child rapist or the like, I might fire a few non-lethal rounds first before actually executing.

Maybe start at the bottom and work up.

Great movie.

They could have used Kirk Douglas' chin dimple as a foxhole if they needed to.

None of that thousands of dollars for an execution. That being said, I wish we would make sure the death penalty was for clear cut cases.

We shouldn't give the bastards the satisfaction of letting them die.

I'd rather just do away with it. Pointless if you ask me, I don't see a situation where I get satisfaction or closure from someone else dying.

Just today, there was a thread about a woman who spent 22 years on Death Row before being exonerated.

The death penalty has outlived its usefulness and is now only a burden left for society. As someone who has done extensive research on the topic, the best way I can sum up the death penalty is that it works great in theory, but fails in practice. The only argument for the death penalty is the irrational, emotional one that goes something like "they deserved it." All the empirical data on cost and the deterrence effect favors life without parole. This is all before you consider the 150 people that have been exonerated sense the moratorium on the death penalty was lifted in 1976. Furthermore, considering the amount of exonerations it is all but a sure thing that innocent people have been executed, and more likely that not this will continue until the death penalty is abolished.

Yea that or take them out in the swamp, put them on their knees, and tie them to a stump. Then let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest.
