A gondola actually would be pretty great for getting across the river between downtown and Port Allen.

To be honest, if we could make those creeks navigable by small water taxis, that really wouldn't be that bad of an idea. There are creeks and bayous that run to or between nearly every destination someone would want to go absent downtown.

Yes! Water taxis up and down Ward's Creek, Dawson's Creek, Bayou Fountain, etc. Now that's an idea!

Urban anything in Baton Rouge sounds like a decision that will be quickly regretted.

I think we should go with a monorail.

I don't mind thinking outside the box but they keep doing a lot of thinking and spending money on studies...meanwhile traffic is getting worse and options dwindling.

He should have been fired right after he said this.

What a moron. You could give everyone a jet pack and still have major problems.

Baton Rouge is not a pedestrian city. It likely never will be a pedestrian city. It sprawls like Los Angeles, CA. There is no good solution.

Would you want your loved ones riding alone in a suspended gondola with the average hood rat?

To be fair, the city bikes in some NE cities like Philly and NY are actually pretty cool. They're electric and are basically rented and can be stored at any of the centers in the city.

It's bad enough to when I'm stuck in traffic on the ground in BR. If I ever got stuck in that thing due to malfunction, I would lose it. Wouldn't happen though bc I def wouldn't get on it.

Our disfunctional school system pushed families to the private schools or out of the parish which increased traffic, and the solution is Gondolas, monorails and trains.

Hey guys offer good, quality safe neighborhood schools and maybe folks won't have to drive all over to take their kids to private schools or drive from outside the parish to go to work.

WTF. Is this a joke?

Nicholson is still a two lane rural cross section, I-10 narrows down to a single lane eastbound in the middle of the city, and Airline is still a highly congested 4 lane road through most of the metro area. Those are simple, easy capacity increases for existing roads that are currently being neglected by both state and parish governments.

Gondolas? They replaced Moret with someone who suggested fricking gondolas as a way to solve traffic problems? WTF?

John Davies needs to be fired immediately just for suggesting something so incredibly stupid.

They need a gondola from campus to Tigerland. There would be a lot of the sex in those.

Moret worked at BRAC then LED

John Davies is president of BRAF.

Again, as I said earlier he made the statement in the rotary meeting more to show the broad range of ideas that their committees were exploring as suggestions. Not their primary or only option.
