Couple of my coworkers used to go to this park nearby the office every other Wednesday after work and play some sort of lawn game. Lately, however, people have been busy with kids and stuff outside of work so it hasn’t happened.

Today, though, someone mentioned the fact that our office has tons of green lawns all over the place. So it kinda spawned into playing at lunch instead of after work. Would you find it unprofessional or solid comradery-building if you walked through an office and saw some people playing cornhole or can jam at lunch?

I can’t decide. There’s no reason it should be wrong, but for some reason I feel nervous.

If you get in trouble at work for playing corn hole on your lunchtime, you should probably consider a different organization. I don't think you should worry about it.

If clients visit on the reg, I would say unprofessional during the workday (at lunch).

It's a good opportunity to exclude someone by not inviting them. That way they know what a nerd they are.

Seems like a good team building thing to me. We used to play ping pong or darts at lunch almost everyday.

Of course, we did it in the basement of our maintenance shop and our Department Chief was the main instigator to get us to do it.

Depends on your industry and office culture, in my opinion. I don't think it's inherently unprofessional.

There's nothing wrong with it, imo, but I want my boss to take me seriously so I would never do that.

I don't think it's a big deal. Let people use their time off to unwind a little. I imagine it's pretty good for morale.

Yep. I mean, we're not doing that shite at my law office or anywhere that people want to see seriousness. But if you're a back office for an insurance company or a tech startup or something, by all means, proceed.

We used to play office golf at one office I worked at, beers or wine glasses in hard. During business hours.

You'll be fine.

I can't see a company having issues with a team building game on alunchtime

If the company has clients coming in alot, I can see where it would be an issue unless the games are being played out of sight.

It really matters what field you are in. I don't think I'd be outside in front of a hospital playing games like that, but things of this nature are pretty common in technology work places.

This one tech place that I've been to has slides for employees to get from one level to another.

It depends on the company. At a tech company, very basic. At an accounting firm, meh.

I would just ask someone very high up in the office if they were okay with it. They will likely say yes, if you ask before doing.
