Y'all don't realize it but fin has tons of money. He only has a job to get away from his wife for 8 hours a day.

Do yourself a favor - one day just casually refresh the list of accidents on the LADOTD website in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Nearly 1 in 4 is a hit and run. Decide appropriately.

I don't

I just don't see a reason to double up on insurance to cover the same thing

I carry health and disability already so that covers med expenses and lost wages

Am I gonna lose out on a few hundred dollars in health insurance deductibles? sure

Am I gonna miss my pain and suffering payday? yes and I'm ok with that

No, I was referring to repair costs actually.

GF's truck was involved in a hit and run a few months ago and it ran her about $4500 in damages, she was out her $1000 deductible.

Ah, ok, but your post was a reply to the guy talking about UM,

quote:

When your vehicle is involved in a hit and run or an accident with someone lacking vehicle insurance, you're going to wish you had it. You might be out your deductible, but it could be the difference between $1000 or $5500.

Most people are going to rely on their collision for this.

disability covers any accident, not just a car accident caused by an uninsured/under insured motorist. If I carried UM I'd still have to carry disability.

And it's not expensive since I sit in from of a computer all day. As long as my brain and fingers are working I can do my job

Most need it. It's insurance for your benefit when you are damaged by someone without insurance, or not enough to satisfy the damage they caused. I like taking care of myself so I have it.

and if they don't? Closed head injury, spinal cord injury, etc, having a million dollars to help with adaptive aids, house modifications, accessible vehicles, sitters, and a host of other things that health insurance does not pay for

if you don't want it , that is fine and I respect that, but it is the right thing for some people

ou ONLY need it if you do not carry collision insurance, if you have collision there is no need for it. If you have liability only then you BETTER have it.

This is 100% wrong.

As a lawyer, I advise everyone to get the largest UM policy you can afford.
