Putin has become a new hero of mine. No political correctness with him. Tells it like it is. If he was on the ballot this fall, I would pull the lever for him.

He has limited free speech in Russia.
He has strengthened his political party at the expense of a Russian democracy.

Not every country/culture can do democracy. Democracy is something that is engrained in our basic belief in government because of our shared history. The Russian people have survived for centuries under the conditions you listed. Maybe it works for them, I don't know or care. I'm tired of nation building and democracy spreading, we should stay out of other countries business and they should stay out ours.
