The only problem now is that taxi cab drivers have figured out how to game the system. In some of the larger cities, cab drivers have now become uber drivers and pick you up. So you get the same shitty cab experience. I experienced this in San Fran and just recently in Seattle.

I personally think uber is starting to go downhill and I've been a rider since they started a few years back as well as a part time driver.

Nope, Uber is better. When I get the confirmation a car is coming, it sends the pic of driver with the year, make, and model of car. (maybe more info, I don't remember)

If a cab showed up, I would cancel on the spot.

Uber is perfect for cities like Lafayette. The cab services here are horrible. The cars are disgusting, they take forever to arrive and very often, they pick up multiple passengers and drive you all around as if you're on the fricking city bus. Of course, they still charge each passenger full fare.

On the app you can filter things like Uber driver, Uber taxi driver, Uber xl or Uber black - not trying to be a know it all just for those that weren't aware.

Lol

If only it were as easy-to-use as opening the app and pressing the order button.....oh, wait

Uber and Lyft are terrific. I can't remember the last time I took a taxi. The service taxis provide in Chicago is embarrassing.

My experience has been that, as a general rule, about half of all cab drivers are dishonest.

I think the app is setup like that - but I can't recall.
Was in Boston about two weeks ago and after our golf game one of the guys insisted on using a taxi - they kept telling him they were in the way Etc.
I used Uber and we had a ride within 5 minutes- I asked him if he wanted to wait on yellow cab or ride with us.

Because we all know Taxi cab drivers would never do such a thing.

At least it would be a from a licensed and bonded rapist. Uber just let anybody rape.

The only time I Uber'd was in Seattle and it was HORRIBLE. The guy tried to get me to let him stay in my hotel with me because 'the drive back home was too long'. I was like "ummmmmm, nope." I gave him a different room number in the hotel and reported his arse and got my fare back.

Ubers not great here in NYC. Seems like most drivers don't know the roads really well and it's almost always $5-10 more expensive.

It changed the game in atl tho.

Nothing wrong with choices.
Things I like is:
The app with cc on acct and not needing cash etc
Setting up a pickup place etc instead of flagging down a cab
Nicer equipment

Well your car had to be a 2010 model or later to drive for Uber so I imagine if you reported them they'd get into trouble.

Also the great thing about Uber is you can rate your ride, if they get bad ratings they can lose their license to drive with Uber. I talked to one driver who said if they are averaging below 4 stars (out of 5), they can get called in for review or reprimand
