Yep. I haven't used Uber and I haven't't used a cab in 4-5 years either.

We now how Uber pool where you get 25% off your ride for telling them they can pick up others along the way - doesn't matter if they actually do or not

I drive for Uber and have never heard of this. Guess its only in select areas and hasn't made it here to NOLA yet.

Never tried it but lots of times you can drop the pin outside the airport, then text the driver that you're at the airport and they'll come get you

Jefferson Parish has law suits against a couple Uber drivers who have done this at MSY. IDK the exact laws or if their case is legit or not but just saying.

Well your car had to be a 2010 model or later to drive for Uber so I imagine if you reported them they'd get into trouble.

Also the great thing about Uber is you can rate your ride, if they get bad ratings they can lose their license to drive with Uber. I talked to one driver who said if they are averaging below 4 stars (out of 5), they can get called in for review or reprimand

The year of the vehicle changes from city to city. To drive in New Orleans it can't be more then 7 years old so right now you can have a 2008+, come Jan first it will be a 2009+. However in Jefferson Parish you only need a 2005+ right now. I've been told in other cities it goes as far back as 2001 models.

Also, for the star rating system drivers must keep a 4.7 or higher rating, if they stay below that for a few weeks then they get called in and have to go to a short class and you have a meeting with the district managers and they go over exactly what your low ratings are for and how to improve and what not. You also get put on probation for a month to improve your rating, if it doesn't come up then you can't drive any more.

It's definitely in other cities. I hear that some drivers hate it though.

I've always thought about doing this and saturday night at VooDoo Fest I had people asking if I could do it and I told them all no, one at a time. Just hasnt made it here yet I guess.

How does it work exactly? The first rider has to "ok" it I assume but does the second rider know about it before they are picked up or no?

I would think they do. The 2nd rider has a trip that is along the same route as the 1st rider.

Just found out my passenger rating. 5 stars. I figured I'd be a little lower since I'm awkwardly quiet and don't like talking to the drivers.

i wish they had Uber in Alexandria. Hell, they don't even have reliable taxis up here.

I've used Uber in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, San Francisco, Napa...every single experience was better than cabbing it.
