I wonder what the cost and availability is.

I've heard Uber from the airport to downtown NOLA is insanely expensive, but that's just second hand information. I would imagine a trek across the Causeway would be pretty ridiculous.

it will be pricey if they even do that. You can check on the app though.

$35 from convention center.

They won't pick you up on the northshore, but from convention center to Mandeville is estimated $63-$85.

What I've read here sometimes Uber is alot lower than cabs and sometimes it's more. Just wanted to see if anyone had tried it yet.

My son has to go to school downtown tonight and his ride is DOA right now.

I can't get any availability from the Madisonville/Covington area on my uber app at all? Even for local northshore trips, anyone else having this issue?

I'd assume St Tammany hasn't authorized them to operate there.

This article is from June

Uber says the cost of a ride from Mandeville to downtown New Orleans would be about $60, according to a post on the company's website.

From the same article.

Guess it was a bad assumption Probably just not a lot of drivers there yet.

Maybe not operating yet. About a month ago there were several articles in the paper about St Tammany welcoming Uber with open arms.

Found one

I thought that maybe there were no drivers yet, but I've checked many times since the articles and have literally not seen one car available. Maybe they are waiting to roll it out until there are enough drivers. I haven't found anymore info on it since then.

I've seen a car here or there. Probably just the same person as it's always around HWY 22.

It is insanely expensive. The estimate I got was $55-70. I just ended up renting a car

OMLandshark would be a good source for Uber information.

Same here. I think they may have just one driver and he/she is rarely working or available.

Definitely not reliable enough to use on the NS.

That one uber driver in St Tammany is currently available. Better hurry and lock it down.
