U. of Cape Town students: witchcraft is no less valid than Isaac Newton's theory

So, murdering children and eating their flesh to "absorb their power" before stripping buck naked and massacring a village with an AK-47 isn't an utterly absurd, horrible crime against humanity. It's just part of "another way of understanding things."

Students at the University of Cape Town in South Africa brought some interesting concerns before the science faculty this week: namely, they think science as it is currently understood must be abolished.
"The whole thing should scratched off, especially in Africa," said one of the students.
The students are apparently known as "fallists." Their hashtag is #ScienceMustFall. You can watch them make their case during a meeting here.
Essentially, these students believe that modern scientific understanding is too Eurocentric. One explained:
quote:
"I have a question for all the science people. There is a place in KZN called Umhlab'uyalingana. They believe that through the magic' you call it black magic' they call it witchcraft' you are able to send lightening to strike someone. Can you explain that scientifically because it's something that happens?"
Many people laughed at this remark because, well, witchcraft is not something that happens. But according to the student, witchcraft is like Isaac Newton's theory of gravity—it's just one way of explaining the world, among many.
"Decolonising the science would mean doing away with it entirely and starting all over again to deal with how we respond to the environment and how we understand it," the student continued.
Down with science: coming to an American university near you? It wouldn't surprise me.

Newton spent more time working on alchemy than physics, so yeah pretty much anything that guy said was bullshite.

I'm convinced. Can we get rid of all white people too?

He died a virgin so he clearly wasn't very bright.

Shortened version:
Isaac Newton was white, therefore his theories are racist.

Everyone knows you have to eat your enemy's heart to absorb their power. That's a scientific fact.

There's actually some fascinating studies from Oxford that suggest eating the pancreas might result in more power absorbing. The studies haven't been peer reviewed as of yet, but if true they could result in amazing new power absorbing techniques.

I'd oblige and ban it. Let them fall even further behind the rest of the world. I give zero fricks.

both exist
Tibetans learn to do terrible things to their enemies too.
The students need to learn to co-exist and excel in western society while maintaining their horrible skills from the tribal territory.

A different way of looking at things
53 minutes, but you get everything I mentioned in the first 30 seconds. It's a great documentary, though, if you want to watch the whole thing.

This just shows you why Africa is and has always been so much more advanced than the rest of the world.

I find I get the best scientific advice from folks who can't spell "lightning."

In the absence of a moral absolute (read: religion) he's not incorrect.

South Africa is so fricked, and Mandella is #1 reason for it going to hell.
He was a champion of his people and their causes, but was not a leader, and his presidency of SA, will go down as a huge albatross for the Country and that City.

Yeah and Einstein said quantum mechanics was bullshite because "God doesn't play dice with the universe", guess that means relativity is bogus too?
Theories are what are proven right, and scientists come up with theories. Scientists can be mistaken, but that doesn't make their correct discoveries invalid.
